Join us for a new international scientific conference dedicated to future water resilience in the
Rhine River Basin.
Hosted by leading research organizations, including Deltares, RWTH Aachen, GFZ Potsdam,
VU Amsterdam, TU Delft, and LIST, connected through the JCAR ATRACE initiative, the
conference will explore how climate change, socio-economic developments and policies are
shaping one of Europe's most important river systems and societies. Together, we will address
pressing challenges such as drought, flooding, water security, ecosystem degradation, and
infrastructure resilience, while identifying opportunities for intensified collaboration and
innovation across borders.
By bringing together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners, the conference aims not only
to advance scientific understanding and discover the latest developments, but also to inform
evidence-based water policy and support decision-making for a more resilient Rhine basin.
The programme will feature the latest applied research and practical insights on topics
including:
- Climate change impacts on floods and droughts
- Hydrology, hydraulics and river processes
- Groundwater and water allocation
- Ecology and river restoration
- Inland navigation and critical infrastructure
- Nature-based solutions and climate adaptation
- Spatial planning and area developments
- Forecasting, early warning systems and digital innovation
- Water governance, policy and transboundary cooperation
Further information, including abstract submission and registration details, will be available
later this month via the conference website: Rhine River Basin Conference.
